Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre

Provided by Ministry of Children and Family Development

Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre is a provincial mental health facility that provides services for young people struggling with severe and enduring mental health challenges.
Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre provides service for young people who are between ages 7 to 17, and residents of British Columbia. Services can be delivered on-site or in the community, depending on the home community and needs of the young people and their caregivers. Maples is a tertiary care facility, meaning that services are tailored for young people whose mental health and/or behavioural challenges are severe enough to impact many aspects of daily life and chronic in nature. Maples works closely with caregivers and community mental health teams to offer mental health assessment, treatment and training to support the re-integration of young people into their home communities.

On-site programming can occur at Healing Spirit House in Coquitlam, or at either of the two Satellite Services homes in Vernon and Prince George, respectively.

There are several different programs, with different lengths of admission. All programming aims to develop community capacity to care for the young people upon discharge. All programs and services include:
  • Participation from caregivers and community professionals who are part of the young person’s circle of care at home.
  • Access to a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including clinicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and child care counsellors.
  • A supportive environment where the young person is given the opportunity to stabilize and create long-term goals for their overall wellness.

Maples receives referrals from:
  • Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH)
  • Indigenous Child and Youth Mental Health (ICYMH)
  • Indigenous Child and Family Services (ICFS) agencies
  • Health Authority clinicians
